How to use junk mail filtering and
anti-virus protection services |
|
|
|
| 1. |
Log in at http://mail.ttlc.net. Enter your UserID and
Password. |
| 2. |
After you log in you will arrive at your main menu
screen. |
| 3. |
Choose "Change Virus/SPAM Settings" from the pull down menu at the
top. |
|
 |
|
 |
| 1. |
To log in, enter the same UserID and Password that you just used
to log in to your mail. |
|
 |
| 2. |
After you log in you will arrive at your Message Center where you
can see if suspicious messages have been quarantined. You are the only one that
has access to this password-protected site. |
|
|
 |
For any messages quarantined as junk email, you
can: |
| 1. |
Read the sender and subject of the suspicious messages, and select
messages to DELETE or DELIVER. To delete or deliver messages "in bulk", select
any messages using the checkbox next to each message or use the one checkbox in
the header to select/unselect them all at once. |
| 2. |
Read the body of the message by clicking on the subject line. You
can then delete or deliver after you determine if the email is junk or
legitimate:
Delete: Deleting the message will keep it from
reaching your in box. The message is moved to the Trash where it will expire
after 7 days from when it first arrived in your Message
Center.
Deliver: Legitimate email should be delivered to your in
box. After you deliver a message, you'll receive a message asking whether to
"approve" the sender(s) to your Approved Senders list - approving this will
prevent future messages from that address from being quarantined in your
Message Center. NOTE: Delivered messages are also moved to the Trash once they
are forwarded to your inbox. |
|
 |
You can adjust your settings at any time to better
suit your personal preferences.
At the top of your Message Center, click
the link for the service you wish to configure. The link will display a green
or red button to show whether the service is active or inactive,
respectively. |
| 1. |
Junk Email Click the "Junk Email" link; if necessary,
click the ON button to activate basic filtering.
You can additionally
customize personal settings by clicking the following titles: |
| |
 |
Filter Categories Filter out potentially
offensive email topics like "Get Rich Quick"; "Sexually Explicit"; "Racially
Insensitive"; and "Special Offers". This setting heightens the sensitivity
towards these specific categories. |
 |
Filter Sensitivity Junk Email filters are
pre-set to Lenient, Moderate, or Aggressive by your email provider. We
recommend you monitor how much legitimate email is quarantined and adjust your
filter sensitivity accordingly to your comfort level, especially after you have
"Approved" any critical senders beforehand. |
 |
Blocked and Approved Senders You can block or
approve specific senders ("user@company.com") or domains ("company.com") by
entering addresses manually. (NOTE: most professional spammers change their
addresses often, making it difficult to block a specific junk email sender with
this setting) |
|
|
 |
| 2. |
Virus Protection All of your messages are scanned for
viruses. If a virus is detected, it is quarantined in your Message Center and
you will be sent an email notification. You can turn virus protection ON or
OFF. Postini recommends having virus protection always turned on for
safety. |
|
 |
Initially we suggest you monitor your Message
Center often. The junk email filters "remember and learn" from your
interaction, and become more accurate with time. You can approve or block
senders and adjust the filter tolerances to make the service more
effective. |
You will receive a periodic notice of
all junk mail held in your Message Center. You can visit your Message Center to
review them, or take no action and the quarantined messages will be
automatically deleted after 14 days. |
